It could be described as an expressionist geometrization, if one insists on labeling her work. Aside from conjectural classifications, ILUMINADA GARCIA-TORRES (1949 Elche, Alicante) always operates within a disciplined practice bordering on the purest mysticist conduct. She is dedicated to a conscientious mathematical investigation to develop her combinatory theses based on the primary 18º angle of the right angle and the circle, which multiplied by 5 equals 90°, meaning each painting is sectioned into exact grids; that is to say, 5 x 5 like a square. However, the geometric work of ILUMINADA GARCIA-TORRES does not lie solely in the neatness with which she finishes her pieces, but also in the application of line pigments onto canvas (and many others onto wood panel). None of the paintings can afford an oversight; every corner, every minuscule plot is subjected to the scrupulous scrutiny of the exact mathematical outcome. The finishes, the conclusion of the paintings, carry an exquisite cleanliness, a highly subtle final accent. Both the grids—not always perceptible at first glance—and the brushstrokes of the lines, with their intentionally irregular gestures to emphasize pure painting over easy design tricks, along with the sense of mobility in the color tones, correspond to the highest values of the pictorial arts.

Her previous languages, in which geometric objects formed part of reflected images, flowed through metaphysical atmospheres devoid of life and activity, solitary lines of nuanced light, where internal mutation itself and figurative evolution converged to dictate a new iconic text that would force the figure to disappear from the canvas, giving way to the indisputable order of organized lines. Puede decirse, una geometrización expresionista, caso de insistir en la etiquetización de su trabajo. Al margen conjeturas de ubicación, ILUMINADA GARCIA-TORRES (1949 Elche, Alicante) siempre en un ejercicio disciplinar rayano en la más pura conducta misticista, y entregada a una investigación matemática concienzuda para el desarrollo de sus tesis combinatorias sobre el número básico de 18º del ángulo recto y circunferencia, que multiplicado por 5 equivale a 90°, por lo que cada cuadro se secciona en cuadrículas exactas; es decir; 5 x 5 como un cuadrado. Pero la obra geométrica de ILUMINADA-GARCIA TORRES no reside únicamente en la pulcritud con que concluye las obras, también la aplicación de los pigmentos de las líneas sobre las telas (otras muchas sobre tabla). Ninguno de los cuadros puede permitirse un descuido, cada esquina, cada minúscula parcela es sometida a la mirada escrupulosa del resultado matemático exacto. Los finales, la conclusión de los cuadros, conllevan, una limpieza exquisita, un sutilísimo acento último. Tanto las cuadrículas, no siempre perceptibles a primera vista, las pinceladas de las líneas de intencionada irregularidad gestual para destacar la pintura-pintura y no el diseño de fácil recurso, la sensación de movilidad en los tonos de color, corresponden a los valores altos de las artes pictóricas. Sus lenguajes previos, en los que los objetos geométricos formaban parte de las imágenes reflejas, discurrían en ambientaciones metafísicas vacías de vida, de actividad, solitarios renglones de luz matizada, donde la misma mutación interna, la propia evolución figurativa, convino en determinar un nuevo texto icónico que obligaría a hacer desaparecer la figura del cuadro y crecer en el indiscutible orden de las líneas organizadas. Una pintura de alma.

ILUMINADA GARCIA-TORRES (Spain) ‘Trazado Espacial Continuo - El hilo de Ariadna’ Esta es la primera vez que la obra geométrica de ILUMINADA se exhibe en el Reino Unido. Durante su residencia en Gasworks, ha producido nuevas obras inspiradas en la escultura de "Ariadna dormida" del Museo del Prado, en Madrid. "Descubrí que la armonía que ella invocaba encajaba perfectamente con un patrón geométrico y matemático, que ahora guía mi geométrica forma de trabajar". ILUMINADA GARCIA-TORRES busca alcanzar la armonía a través de la expresión del momento, constituido por línea-espacio-tiempo, dentro de relaciones matemáticas proporcionales con las estructuras.
