"ARIADNA le proporcionó un ovillo. Siguiendo el Hilo de ese ovillo logró salir del Laberinto, después de derrotar al monstruo. Ariadna partió con Teseo, pero él no cumplió su promesa pues la dejó abandonada en la isla de Naxos.
La visión de la potencia y sutileza de la escultura clásica Ariadna, traída por Velázquez de Italia y exhibida actualmente en el MUSEO DEL PRADO, significó para ILUMINADA GARCÍA-TORRES el punto de partida de una larga trayectoria que llega hasta el día de hoy. Ariadna y su mito es el monotema mitológico de ILUMINADA.
En principio desarrolló sólo el personaje de Ariadna en varios cuadros con distintas interpretaciones en las que es posible observar la delicadeza y la finura del espíritu de la propia autora así como su habilidad para resaltar los más insignificantes matices de la escultura. Posteriormente, el estudio del personaje femenino la condujo progresivamente a interpretar en otra serie de cuadros de muy diferente concepción el tema del LABERINTO, para desembocar finalmente en su actual y minuciosa investigación dedicada al TRAZADO ESPACIAL CONTINUO, que ILUMINADA GARCÍA-TORRES considera su personal HILO DE ARIADNA."

"ARIADNE provided him with a ball of thread. Following the thread of that ball, he managed to exit the Labyrinth after defeating the monster. Ariadne left with Theseus, but he did not keep his promise as he left her abandoned on the island of Naxos.
The vision of the power and subtlety of the classical sculpture Ariadne, brought by Velázquez from Italy and currently exhibited in the PRADO MUSEUM, meant for ILUMINADA GARCÍA-TORRES the starting point of a long career that continues to this day. Ariadne and her myth is the mythological monotheme of ILUMINADA.
At first, she developed only the character of Ariadne in several paintings with different interpretations in which it is possible to observe the delicacy and refinement of the author's own spirit, as well as her ability to highlight the most insignificant nuances of the sculpture. Subsequently, the study of the female character progressively led her to interpret the theme of the LABYRINTH in another series of paintings of a very different conception, to finally lead into her current and meticulous investigation dedicated to CONTINUOUS SPATIAL TRACING, which ILUMINADA GARCÍA-TORRES considers her personal ARIADNE'S THREAD."
