1991, ILUMINADA GARCIA TORRES (1949 Elche), I dedicate my time to research in Geometric Art as a result of the experience of painting two oil canvases of the sculpture Sleeping Ariadne in Naxos at the Prado Museum (1986-88), Ariadne's THREAD, paintings by Velázquez, and sculptures in Rome 1650), and the SEMINAR ON AUTOMATIC GENERATION OF PLASTIC FORMS directed by computer scientists from the Computation Center, University of Madrid, IBM in 1969 for Painters' Projects. I learned about it through E. SEMPERE (1923-1985), and I never forgot it, as it opened up a new horizon for me: NEW TECHNOLOGIES in Visual Arts. Years later, it would mean that from the beginning I had to find my own creative project in geometric art, requiring a mathematical formulation to paint and work with a computer. This intense and exciting research culminated in 1991 with my work COMBINABLES Continuous Spatial Tracing, Geometric Art: Normative, Constructive, and Generative-Digital.
Three forms of expression in plastic and visual arts generated by computer: Pictorial-Digital, Geometric Words, and Sculptural, sharing the mathematical and geometric concept, which have the square as their basic structure.
In Painting, for Iluminada García Torres, the S-lines are the essential expression of her research; each line is an affirmation of the instant, light-line-space-time. Lines expressed in single-gesture brushstrokes—the uniqueness of each line, rhythms (echoes of the heartbeat), gradations of color, number, and dimension, in proportional relation of the lines to the space of the squares of the modular system. By forming 4 communicating horizons on the sides of the squares, a "continuous" is generated through the systematic application of the mathematical concept; each action maintains its expanding geometric potential in the composition.
The points-circles have a free representation, either alone or with the lines of the compositions. The Sculpture is projected with cubic and cylindrical structures.
